The home was clean and well maintained but it felt flat. It had no personality. No warmth. And practically, it was not working for a family of four with two growing children who needed study spaces, storage, and a kitchen that could handle serious Indian cooking.

The Approach: Understanding the Family First

The TV unit was custom designed with a combination of open shelving, closed cabinets, and a backlit panel that adds warmth in the evenings. A built in window seat was added along the large east facing window, instantly becoming the most loved spot in the house for both the children and the adults.

Furniture was rearranged to create two distinct zones within the same room. A primary seating area for the family and a casual corner near the window seat for reading and relaxing.

The Kitchen: The Biggest Transformation

Before

The original kitchen was the most painful part of the home for this family. Builder grade cabinets that had warped over the years. No proper counter space. A single overhead tubelight that cast harsh shadows everywhere. And absolutely no storage system, just deep cabinets where things disappeared and were never found again.

A dedicated tall unit was added for storing dry groceries, atta, and rice, which had previously been kept on the floor in plastic containers.

After

The kitchen is now the favourite room in the house. The same lady who used to dread cooking there now has friends over to show it off. Every single inch of space is used intelligently. And the under cabinet lighting means the kitchen looks genuinely beautiful even at night.

The Master Bedroom: A Personal Retreat

Before

The master bedroom had plain walls, a basic wardrobe that was overflowing, no false ceiling, and lighting that consisted of a single ceiling fan with a light. It functioned as a bedroom but felt like nothing more than that.

What We Changed

The master bedroom was redesigned as a proper personal retreat for the couple.

The colour palette shifted to warm blush tones with a deeper dusty rose on the wall behind the bed. A perimeter false ceiling with soft cove lighting was added, giving the room a completely different atmosphere in the evenings. The central fan light was retained but a dimmer was added so the lighting can be adjusted based on mood.

The wardrobe was completely replaced. A full height sliding wardrobe from floor to ceiling was installed across the entire length of one wall. This not only provided dramatically more storage but visually elongated the room and made it feel larger.

A small but beautifully designed dressing unit with a well lit mirror was added in the corner, something the lady of the house had always wanted but never had.

A headboard wall treatment using textured wallpaper in a subtle geometric pattern added depth and personality without overwhelming the calm, restful atmosphere the room needed.

The couple now describes their bedroom as their favourite room in the home. They close the door in the evening, turn on the cove lighting, and feel like they are in a completely different world from the rest of the apartment.

The Children’s Bedroom: Smart Design for Growing Kids

Before

Two children sharing one bedroom with basic furniture, no dedicated study zone, and wardrobes that were already too small for their growing needs. Homework happened at the dining table. Belongings were everywhere.

What We Changed

The children’s room required the most creative thinking. The brief was to create two distinct personal zones for each child within a single room without making either child feel shortchanged.

The solution was a custom designed loft bed system. Each child got a loft bed with a dedicated study zone beneath it, personal storage, and their own shelving for books and belongings. The two units were mirror images of each other, creating symmetry and fairness that both children immediately appreciated.

Each child was given their own colour accent within the room. One side has a soft teal accent wall behind the bed. The other has a warm yellow. The overall room palette of white and light wood keeps everything cohesive and prevents it from feeling chaotic.
